Fatal House Fire

     

Friday, August 6, 2010 09:35 While returning to Station after assisting with an EMS run, Squad 75 was alerted to the unit block of East 1st Avenue for a dwelling fire.  Squad 75 arrived on location confirming a working fire as the crew proceeded through the front door with a 1 3/4" hand line.  Shortly after it was reported that the home's occupant was unaccounted for.  A Medic was requested and an "All Hands" was dispatched.  Squad 75 quickly knocked down the visible fire on the 1st floor as Engine 75 arrived on location and established a water supply.  Engine 75's crew joined Squad 75's crew as they proceed up to the 2nd floor to conduct a primary search.  The crews located the occupant, who was quickly removed from the dwelling and turned over to BLS 3 (Bellmawr) and Medic 46 (Virtua) on the front lawn.  The victim was transported to Underwood Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced DOA.  One Firefighter suffered a minor shoulder injury was transported to Kennedy Stratford where he was treated and released.
